For people in many parts of the world, zoos are often as close they can get to wildlife, but here in sunny South Africa, we have another approach to wildlife housing called “wildlife reserves”, and they are a completely different animal (excuse the pun). With well-trained and experienced wildlife rangers and guides, people fortunate enough to visit such a reserve are treated to a guide drive through fenced-in sections of African plains where our local wildlife walk around freely. It is the most realistic opportunity to come face to face with actual wildlife in a controlled setting, and we’ll be looking at that next!
